Gallery Wall Ideas: How to Plan & Hang a Print Set
A gallery wall turns an empty wall into the best feature in the room — if you plan it. Here's the simple, designer-approved way to build one that looks intentional, not chaotic.
1. Pick one theme or palette
Cohesion is everything. Choose art that shares a theme (fantasy, botanical, celestial) or a palette (all muted earth tones, all black & gold). A matching printable set does this for you instantly.
2. Choose an anchor, then build around it
Pick your largest or boldest print as the anchor and place it slightly off-center. Arrange the rest around it, balancing visual weight — a big piece on one side, two smaller ones on the other.
3. Plan the layout before you drill
Lay everything on the floor and rearrange until it feels right. Better yet, trace each frame onto paper, tape the templates to the wall, and step back. You'll save your wall from extra holes.
4. Nail the spacing and height
Keep a consistent gap between frames — 2 to 3 inches works for most walls. Center the whole arrangement at eye level (about 57–60" to the middle), or anchor it ~8–10" above a sofa or console.
5. Frames: consistent or eclectic?
Matching frames read modern and calm; mixed frames feel collected and boho. Either works — just repeat something (frame color, mat width, or art style) so it looks deliberate.
6. Why printable sets make gallery walls easy
Buying a printable set means every piece already coordinates, comes in five ratios to fit any frame, and costs a fraction of physical prints — so you can fill a whole wall, and swap it whenever you like.
